Judy Bermant was born in London and studied at St. Martin’s School of Art; she later studied printmaking with Peter Freeth RA at the Camden Institute. She was elected a member of the Contemporary Portrait Society and has exhibited widely throughout the UK. Judy has had exhibitions at the Ben Uri Gallery in 1981, 1990 and 2008. She now works in London, Haifa and Jerusalem.

Chaim Icyk Bermant (1929 –1998) was a prominent Anglo-Jewish journalist, author and wit. Born in Braslava, Latvia, he spent much of his childhood in Scotland, graduating in economics from Glasgow University and the London School of Economics. He was a member of the Ben Uri Council between 1975 and 1977, a regular contributor to "The Jewish Chronicle" and occasionally to the national press, particularly "The Observer".
