After studying design at the Reimann Schule from 1923–26, Dodo worked as a fashion illustrator in Berlin, later contributing illustrations to the satirical magazine ULK. She immigrated to England in 1936, followed in 1938 by her husband and their two children. She supported herself with commissions including designs for fashion, chocolates and greeting cards and illustrating children’s books as ‘Dodo Adler’.
