Early minutes (in Yiddish) record that in 1921 Ben Uri organised a huge event to mark his visit to England, and subsequently fundraised to purchase a number of his works (including his sculpture of Israel Zangwill), which were subsequently displayed in the Ben Uri's inaugural exhibition in 1925. A number of the works were also loaned to the important 'Jewish Art and Antiquities' exhibition at the Whitechapel Art Gallery in 1927.
